Writing

EU7A2234 - Version 6In 2017, I was very excited to be shortlisted for the prestigious Kelpies Prize run by the wonderful Floris Books, for my story David and the Surprisingly Smart-o-saurus! You can read more about the prize and the story here.

I’m currently well into a first draft of a second children’s middle grade novel and really enjoying getting to know my new characters!

In 2016 I was selected as one of the emerging writers to read at Edinburgh City of Literature’s Storyshop events at Edinburgh International Book Festival. I performed my short story ‘Billy’s War’ in the Spiegeltent. You can read the story and watch a video of my reading on the Edinburgh City of Literature website.

I also write poetry and drama. I performed my one-woman play Green Knight at the Edinburgh Fringe 2017 and at Buxton Fringe in 2018, and I’ve previously had comedy sketches performed on stage, and on BBC Radio Scotland.

I’ve worked as a writer and performer for Shoreline of Infinity‘s Infinitesimals. As part of this project, I have adapted several short stories from Shoreline of Infinity magazine into audio dramas, some of which have been recorded for the Soundwave podcast. I’d been involved previously with the Shoreline group as a performer in their monthly Event Horizon live nights in Edinburgh, and in the first Shoreline full-length play, Seeing Stars. They’re a wonderful, energetic bunch of creatives and it’s always a pleasure to work with them. Watch this space for news of the Infinitesimals launch.

A number of my poems have been published online:

Cramond Shore‘, on The Open Mouse.

Close‘ published by Dear Damsels.

Adamare’, ‘The Irish Actor’, and ‘Moonspill‘ published by Clear Poetry.
