Flora Macdonald and Zombies

Flora Macdonald – Jacobite heroine, saviour of an exiled prince, face of many shortbread tins … and ferocious zombie hunter. Join Flora for a rollicking and completely untrue adventure into Scotland’s past, featuring war, romance, a rogue royal, the undead, a cat assassin, and a Scottish schoolgirl on the best history trip ever. A new one-hour, fantasy-comedy solo show, written and performed by Debbie Cannon, and directed by Flavia D’Avila. Contains swearing, and scenes of messy zombie evisceration.

‘a handful of characters, each of them magnificently realised and perfectly defined.’ (Wee Review, 4 stars)

‘remarkable … a sensational performance’ (All Edinburgh Theatre, 4 stars)

Thank you to everyone who came and supported the show at Cymera, Buxton Fringe, and at the Scottish Storytelling Centre for Edinburgh Fringe in 2025!

Audience Reviews (from Edinburgh Fringe 2025) –

‘So clever and funny! Would highly recommend!’

‘Absolutely wonderful storytelling. And very, very funny. Debbie Cannon is a delight to watch and listen to.’

‘What an absolute delight! Wonderfully clever, hilarious writing and performance by Debbie Cannon, and deftly directed by Flavia D’Avila, this is the perfect fringe show for anyone who loves top tier storytelling with a lively twist. Especially for those who love B movies and think most history could be livened up with a spicy sprinkling of undead! A real treat. Don’t miss it!’

‘Absolutely bonkers but in the best possible way. Debbie Cannon’s performance is flawless, expertly embodying Flora, Bonnie Prince Charlie, a zombie killing cat, a primary aged girl called Lulu and Jeff (the King of the Zombies). I lauughed maybe a little too loud at this show. But I don’t care. I absolutely loved it!’

‘A very entertaining show. Lovely storytelling, great writing and acting. Highly recommended.’

‘Such frothy, fabulous fun – with a little something to say, in the deft daftness – and what an array of wonderful characters! By the time Lulu got started, I was simply staring in awe! Loved this!’
